BIRTHING PHOTOGRAPHY IS A PHOTO JOURNALISTIC TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPHY THAT ALLOWS ME TO CAPTURE YOUR JOURNEY INTO PARENTHOOD, FULL OF LOVE & RAW EMOTIONS.
THE BIG AND SMALL DETAILS THAT WE WANT TO HOLD TO FOREVER. THIS SESSION IS VERY NATURAL AND UNPOSED. MY GOAL BEFORE BIRTH FOR ME + YOU: I'LL DO MY BEST FOR US TO GET KNOW ONE ANOTHER AHEAD OF TIME. I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TO BE COMPLETELY COMFORTABLE BEFORE BEING BEING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER AND CAPTURING YOUR STORY. MY PLAN IS TO HELP PARENTS TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR OWN BIRTH EXPERIENCES WITH HONESTY AND LOVE AT SUCH A VULNERABLE TIME.
When do you come during Labor?
As soon as you let your Midwife know, let me know. It's safe to have a false alarm than for me to miss your birth.
Do you take pictures of the whole labor and birth?
I will arrive during active labor and stay 1-2 hours after the birth.
What if I go into Labor in the middle of the night? CALL ME. I am on call for you + baby 24/7 the weeks surrounding your due date. Only delay I may have is travel time to your birthing location. Any other delays that might prevent me from making it to your labor on time will be an unexpected location change or an emergency situation.
How long will you stay? What if I have a long labor?
I do not put a limit on time. I prefer to arrive during the later stages of labor and stay until up to 1-2 hours after birth. If your labor is a slow process as some are, it will be important for your spouse, support person, Doula or Midwife to keep me informed throughout so that I can be sure to arrive at the right time. Birth's are obviously unpredictable so communication and timing are key in my arrival not being too early or too late.
Will the hospital or birthing center allow a Photographer?
All hospitals and birthing centers have different policies regarding photography during delivery as well as restrictions on the number of support people allowed in the room during the birth, it is a good idea to verify your location's and physician's specific policies to ensure I will be able to attend.
What if I have a C-section?
whether this is planned or not, C-section births are just as special and they should be treated no differently. I will work with your care providers in the event of an emergency C-section and will continue to capture your birth to the best of my ability.
Hospital policies may prevent me from being in the OR during your C-section if not I can capture a Fresh 48 or Newborn session. You may want to also discuss this scenario with your OB to determine beforehand if I will be permitted in the OR in the event of an emergency C-section.
